Revolutionary treatment at home

Prevention and Treatment of Oral Mucositis with Proven Photobiomodulation Therapy in the Comfort of Home.

This is how it works

Orolage Penez is a revolutionary technology designed to reduce the incidence and debilitating effects of oral mucositis in patients undergoing chemotherapy, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), and radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer.
It is a safe, non-invasive, and easy-to-use therapeutic device that is applied locally at key delivery points to provide a high-density narrow-band light source:

  1. An analgesic effect
  2. An anti-inflammatory effect
  3. Wound healing properties

Oral mucositis

Oral mucositis is the most common and debilitating complication of cancer treatment, especially radiation therapy to the head or neck area, some chemotherapy and targeted therapy drugs, or high-dose chemotherapy before stem cell transplantation. Most cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with radiation experience some degree of oral mucositis.

Impacts Of Oral Mucositis

Nutrition

This can lead to poor feeding and affect nutrition due to the inability to eat and loss of calories

Hospitalisation

Increases length of hospitalization, risk of infection, and use of antibiotics and drugs

Treatment Impacts

Treatment options can be significantly affected – often requiring a reduction in chemotherapy doses

Increased Cost

Increased costs associated with treatment, including therapy and re-hospitalization

Photobiomodulation (PBM) can prevent or reduce the severity and duration of oral mucositis.

The effect of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) formerly known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on oral mucositis has been reported in more than 30 randomized controlled clinical trials. This includes chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in both pediatric and adult populations. These studies have shown that PBMT can prevent as well as reduce the severity and duration of oral mucositis.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy, (formerly known as low-level laser therapy or LLLT) is the application of light to tissues to reduce inflammation and improve healing. It works by increasing cellular energy (ATP) and reducing free radicals (oxidative stress). There are over 700 randomized controlled clinical trials on PBM including 32 controlled clinical trials on oral mucositis for a wide range of therapeutic and non-therapeutic applications.
Light at certain wavelengths can penetrate cells and activate mitochondria, increasing cellular energy production, which is critical to cellular health, increasing ATP energy levels and longevity. Mitochondria represent the organelle batteries that fuel all the processes of our organs. More cellular energy in the cell optimal organ function

Clinical trials show significant improvement in wound healing and pain relief.

A recent systematic review on PBM for OM found that it reduces the pain, severity, and duration of chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-induced oral mucositis.

Global Relationship of Steady Consideration in Malignant growth (MASCC) proposals

The Global Relationship of Steady Consideration in Malignant Growth (MASCC) suggests the utilization of intra-oral PBM treatment involving low-level laser treatment for the anticipation of oral mucositis.

  1. Adult patients receiving HSCT with high-dose chemotherapy (CT), with or without total body irradiation.
  2. Adult patients undergoing radiotherapy (RT) to the head and neck without CT.
  3. Grown-up patients getting RT and CT for head and neck malignant growth.
